Vertical | Horizontal | Laminar Air Flow

Category:

Laminar Air Flow are clean benches which have their own supply of HEPA filtered highly purified air. The total air present in the enclosure moves in a unidirectional velocity flowing in parallel lines, which is free from macroscopic fluctuations. The air flow velocity remains ~0.45 m/s, Class ISO 5 according to ISO:EN 14644-1. The purpose of using such workstations in laboratory is to create particle and bacteria free sterile working environment to carry out specialized work.

  1. Quality control labs of pharmaceutical Industries, food processing industries, micro circuit and electronic assembly and manufacturing
  2. General Laboratory applications in Biotechnology, Microbiology
  3. Microbiological-sterility test
  4. Petri dish preparation for microbiology
  5. IVF (In Vitro Fertilization)
  6. PNT (Parental Nutritional Preparation)
  7. Sterile Handling

  1. VERTICAL LAMINAR AIR FLOW

It is the most used type of laminar air flow.

In vertical flow cabinet, room air is entered in working area through HEPA filter fitted on top of the cabinet. Thus, air flows downward (vertically) towards work surface and leaves the cabinet sweeping out particles and bacteria

HORIZONTAL LAMINAR AIR FLOW

Here, room air is entered into the working area through a HEPA filter fitted on the back side of the cabinet.
Filtered air flows horizontally toward the user creating a sterile working environment.
The objects should not be placed <3 inches from the back of the hood (ensuring that nothing should be in direct contact with the filter)
